Smallbore silhouette matches are held the first Saturday of the month from February thru October. All shots are fired offhand without the aid of slings or other artificial support. Two forty round matches are conducted each month. Matches start at 9:00 AM and are usually over by 12:30-1:00 PM depending on the number of competitors.
Equipment typically consists of a .22 rimfire rifle chambered for short, long or long rifle. Hypervelocity ammo such as “stingers” is not allowed. Telescopic sights of any power are allowed. Eye and hearing protection is encouraged but is not mandatory.
Targets are metallic silhouettes of chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams placed 40, 60, 77, and 100 meters respectively from the firing line.
A new shooter does well to hit 8-10 animals in their first match but scores quickly pick up with practice and match participation.
This is an NRA sanctioned event open to club members and non-members. First time shooters will not have to pay an entry fee ($5.00) or purchase a scorebook (12.00).
