Coast Rifle and Pistol Club
February 17, 2010 6:00 p.m.
There were 11 members present for the February monthly meeting including the following Officers, Board members and chairmen:

The meeting was called to order and the following items were discussed:
1. A membership report was giving as 951.
2. The treasury report was given. The club checking account balance is $81,259.02. The property lease and taxes have been paid.
3. Major upcoming expenses are: Club Insurance approximately $3,000; Order of Clays approximately $11,300. With $50,000 reserve, approximately $17,200 is available for club improvements.
4. The skeet checking account was discussed. A check was written for sod on that account and only one signature was on the check. The account was approved by the board to only be used for skeet shoots and all checks are to have two signatures. No future club expenditures shall be paid out of that account, except for skeet shoots.
5. Range safety issue of ricochets was discussed when shooting steel targets. The board voted unanimously to address this issue. Currently only 22 rifle matches are approved to shoot steel targets. Charley Parker has taken the action to bring the issue before the 22 rifle group to find out the best way to trap the 22 rounds fired at steel targets during the match.
6. The
second range safety issue was the pistol range users can inadvertently fire at
someone on the shoot gun range. The board voted unanimously to extend the berm between the pistol and shoot
gun range.
7. Dirt
work on the pistol range was approved by the board unanimously to start after 3
March. It was approved to hire the contractor to work by the day with a maximum
of 12 days approved at 1375.00 a day plus tax. This comes out to 7000.00 a
week. The contractor Donald Stokes thought he could complete in 10 days. During
pistol range improvement pistol targets will be set up on the long rifle range
to accommodate club members during the construction of berms on pistol range.
8. The
board approved $300.00 for combat pistol shooting event for improvements.
9. Apple
Seed shoot was approved for the last weekend in May.29th and 30th
on the un-improved pistol arrange. Hale Switzer is chairing this event for the
club.
10. A
planning meeting was set up for the April 4 H event to
be held on 6th of March at 2 o’clock at the range. This will be the
planning kick off meeting. Jean has a member that has indicated that he will
donate porta pottys for
that event. Jean is working on getting a decision on wither we have to have a ambulance on sight during the event.
